If the first Monday of May is basically your Super Bowl, we have some very exciting news for you. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute announced the theme of the Met Gala 2024: “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

Naturally, social media immediately began speculating about what exactly this seemingly vague theme could represent — and if attendees will actually stick to the theme. Contrary to some people’s interpretations of the title, the 2024 gala isn’t about the classic Disney fairytale or Beyoncé’s “Cozy” Renaissance Tour costume.

So what does the “Sleeping Beauties” theme mean? Here are all the details on the Met Gala 2024 so far.

What is the Met Gala 2024 theme?

As always, the Met Gala will be a celebration of the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, which acts as the foundation for the fashion event’s dress code.

According to Vogue, approximately 250 pieces spanning over a 400-year history — including at least 15 archival items deemed too fragile ever to be worn again — will be on display during the exhibit’s run in New York City from May 10 to September 2, 2024. These exceptionally rare garments are the “sleeping beauties” of the Costume Institute’s collection.

With a focus on sustainability, the exhibit will be categorized into three zones: land, sea, and sky. Each of these will include garments comprised of materials that can be traced back to their respective category, with the aim of highlighting the relationship between fashion and the environment.

One example of the kinds of designs that the exhibit will showcase is the iconic 2011 Alexander McQueen butterfly dress which was part of former creative director Sarah Burton’s first collection for the fashion house. The hourglass dress is fully embellished with meticulously crafted artificial butterflies and is said to represent the promise of “transformative renewal.” It’s an exceptional piece that has rarely been worn beyond the runway, aside from when Elizabeth Banks donned it for her portrayal of the fashion-forward Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games.

The collection will also consist of original pieces from designers such as Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Hubert de Givenchy — whose work will surely act as inspiration for the looks we’re bound to see at the annual gala.

On the importance of this year’s exhibit, Andrew Bolton, head curator of The Costume Institute, said, “Fashion is one of the most emotional artistic forms because of its connection to the body. It is imbued with memory and emotions, and we relate to it very much via our senses. One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.”

When is the 2024 Met Gala?

The 2024 Met Gala will fall on Monday, May 6. As usual, it will be held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, with its star-studded red carpet taking place on the museum’s iconic front steps.

Who is attending the 2024 Met Gala?

The exclusive event’s guest list is never revealed before the gala, but we expect to see many familiar celebrity faces on next year’s red carpet. Several members of the Kardashian family typically attend the big night and fan favourites like Rihanna, Zendaya and Blake Lively often grace the museum’s steps as well.

In the months leading up to the big night, more information about who’s attending will likely be revealed.

Who are the 2024 Met Gala co-chairs?

On February 15, Vogue announced that Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya would form the official host committee along with Anna Wintour. Meanwhile, honorary chairs for the event are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew. As Vogue notes, the co-chairs are a mix of longtime Met Gala guests (like J.Lo, who has attended a whopping 13 times) and first-timers (like Hemsworth, who has never been to the fashion event), along with Bad Bunny and Zendaya who have walked the Met Gala steps three and five times respectively.

What were past Met Gala themes?

The 2023 Met Gala was held in honour of late designer Karl Lagerfeld with the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Despite Lagerfeld’s controversial legacy, looks from the evening’s gala celebrated his decades of work at iconic fashion houses including Chanel, Fendi and Chloé.

Standouts from last year’s event included Dua Lipa, co-chair of the 2023 gala, who wore an elegant vintage Chanel tweed ballgown famously first worn by Claudia Schiffer on the runway in 1992. In addition to the variety of throwback Chanel and Chloé looks that graced the gala’s carpet, some stars opted for a more literal interpretation of Lagerfeld’s legacy. This included Doja Cat’s fully feline-inspired ensemble, which was meant to represent Lagerfeld’s beloved pet, Choupette.

You know those besties you tell everything to? That’s Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. And honey, the tea was seemingly piping hot at the 2024 Golden Globes where Gomez was spotted sharing more with Swift than a limo to the award show.

Talking about the weather? I don’t think so. The intense interaction, which occurred during a commercial break and was shared on social media by an unknown source, immediately sent the internet into a frenzy, with everyone from diehard Swifties to casual Globes viewers dying to know what they were talking about.

And who can blame them? Between Gomez’s “can you believe it?” nod and smirk to Swift and Keleigh Sperry’s (Miles Teller’s wife and Swift’s plus one) shocked reactions, you just know the gossip was juicy.

Lucky for us (and for all nosy people out there) Twitter’s best lip readers immediately got down to business and concluded that Gomez had asked Timothée Chalamet for a photo but Kylie Jenner, who was Chalamet’s date for the evening, shut it down.

Though this is just speculation, some claim that they can even hear Sperry saying “with Timothée?” in another video of the exchange, which has only fuelled the rumours.

Even if this is true, you might be wondering why it’s such a big deal. Well, while Chalamet and Gomez been friends for the past few years (they worked together in 2019 on Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day In New York and have publicly interacted many times since then), both Gomez and Swift also have a tumultuous history with Jenner.

Many will surely remember the infamous brow feud that went down between Gomez, Jenner and Hailey Bieber in early 2023, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Gomez, Jenner and Swift’s combined history.

Besides Gomez’s messy past with Jenner (which is linked to years of drama between her and Bieber, with whom Jenner is close friends), Swift also went through a very public scandal with the Kardashians in 2016. Although Swift’s Kardashian drama mostly involved Kim and Kanye, it doesn’t appear that Swift has ever been chummy with any members of the Kardashian family ever since.

While the Chalamet-Jenner-Gomez drama seems to be the prevailing theory as to what the gossip sesh was about, the internet had fun thinking of what else could have made Swift and Sperry’s jaws drop — including everything from Gomez telling Swift about her thoughts on the Chiefs to her fast food troubles.

Ariana Grande’s new single “yes, and?” is coming

On January 7, the 30-year-old singer shared an Instagram post revealing the title and artwork for her latest single “yes, and?” which will be released this January 12. Both the single’s title and artwork, which is a blurry, up-close photo of Grande wearing bright red lipstick and her signature cat-eye, are cryptic, but the internet quickly assumed what the new track may be about.

In recent months, Grande has caught some heat for her rumoured romance with her Wicked co-star, Broadway performer Ethan Slater (more on that later). Some social media users seem to think that the single’s title is Grande’s response to her critics, implying that she’s saying “yes, and?” to all the criticism she’s received over the relationship.

While she just made the official announcement that new music is on its way, the singer has been teasing her comeback for weeks now.

Grande began sharing new photos of her in the studio in late 2023 through a series of Instagram posts. In between pictures of the singer working away on the new album, one post featured a photo of her smiling to the camera with tears in her eyes in a (presumably) post-recording selfie.

This will be Grande’s seventh studio album and her first since she split from her longtime manager, Scooter Braun, who also formerly managed Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato.

After laying low for much of 2023, Ariana Grande is slowly emerging

Grande remained relatively low-key for most of last year, having spent much of it filming the upcoming Wicked movie (she stars as Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo) and recording her latest album.

However, around the holidays, Grande was seen in NYC with Slater in a rare public outing.

About a week later on January 4, Ariana Grande was photographed strolling through NYC wearing a black crewneck sweatshirt with white text that read, “yes, and?” — which we now know is the name of her new single.

Despite the controversy that has surrounded her in recently months, Grande looked relaxed during the outing, pairing the “yes, and?” sweater with straight-leg jeans, fur-trimmed black booties, the Devon leather bag from The Row and an extra dramatic winged eyeliner.

This isn’t the first time that Grande has teased an upcoming music release through clothing. In 2018 she donned a “No Tears Left To Cry” sweatshirt ahead of that single’s release and diehard fans will also remember how Grande wore a “Dangerous Woman” T-shirt ahead of her album’s release in 2016.

The Ethan Slater of it all

After officially separating from her now ex-husband Dalton Gomez in the summer of 2023, Grande was rumoured to begin dating her Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater.

Although some social media users commented on how fast Grande seemed to have moved on from her marriage, the real issues began once more about Slater’s relationship history was uncovered.

Slater had been married to Lilly Jay, his high-school sweetheart, since 2018. The pair welcomed their son in August 2022 and seemed to be going strong up until the summer of 2023, with Slater even posting a sweet Mother’s Day tribute to his then-wife (which Grande liked) in May 2023.

Things took a sharp turn when news about Grande and Slater started to make headlines in July 2023 and, by July 26, Slater had filed for divorce from Jay.

The following day, Jay told Page Six that Grande is “not a girl’s girl” and said that her family “was just [the] collateral damage” of the situation.

By September 2023, Grande and Gomez both filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” as reported by TMZ.

Since then, Grande and Slater have seemingly been going strong, and have been photographed together on a few occasions, although neither has confirmed the relationship.

To close out one of the biggest years of her career, Taylor Swift spent NYE supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce by attending the December 31 Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium. In her usual game day style, Swift sported a Chiefs letterman jacket (that happened to match the one Kelce wore just the week before) with her signature red lip.

Later in the evening, Swift rang in 2024 in a bejewelled minidress and a festive updo decorated with Jennifer Behr barrettes at a party with Kelce, fellow Chiefs’ player Patrick Mahomes, his wife Brittany Mahomes and more.

Sabrina Carpenter

While performing her hit song “Feather” in Times Square, Sabrina Carpenter showcased her signature girly style in an all-white corset look that was giving vintage Madonna. After removing the fluffy shrug she began the performance in, the singer danced onstage in a mini-dress, white lace opera gloves and sky-high platform boots.

In 2023, a lot of fads come in and out of vogue, and while some heavy hitters like the quiet luxury aesthetic and this season’s favoured cherry red hue will surely stick around into the new year, others will undoubtedly fall to the wayside. For instance, while the adventurous no-pants and exposed bra trends each had moments of popularity this year, we may not see them maintain the same relevance into 2024.

But with some of 2023’s top trends winding down, what will take their place?

Though it’s more of an art than a science, commentary on social media, trend forecasters posting their annual fashion predictions, plus the patterns we’ve already noticed from the Spring 2024 runways all help forecast what will dominate fashion trends in 2024.

Without further ado, check out our predictions for some of the biggest 2024 fashion trends that you’ll be seeing everywhere next year.

Indie sleaze

If the fashion scene is truly moving on from Y2K styles then it’s only logical that a new era of forgotten fads will return to the mainstream. Behold: The antithesis to the girly, colourful playfulness of Y2K — indie sleaze.

Though some trend forecasters have been predicting the resurgence of the grungy aesthetic (whose roots date back to both the mid-2000s emo scene and early 2010s “Tumblr girl” fashion) for the past year, a growing desire to move away from the perkiness of Y2K combined with the popularity of sheer dressing and the tights as pants trend point to indie sleaze’s 2024 comeback.

Also regarded as the certified late-2000s “party girl” aesthetic, other elements of this trend include oversized fur coats, lots of leopard print, ripped tights and, of course, some purposefully smudged eyeliner with just a hint of glitter (hello, Kesha!).

Eclectic grandpa

You’ve met grandmacore and she stuck around for a while, but now it’s time to meet one of the most surprisingly fashionable members of your family. According to Pinterest’s trend predictions for 2024, the “eclectic grandpa” aesthetic is set to be all the rage in the new year.

While emulating granny’s traditional style involved chunky knits, sensible footwear and cardigans, the new grandpacore look offers new twist on retro fashion. This aesthetic can be achieved by layering collared shirts under sweaters, choosing colourful (or maybe even patterned) socks to wear with your loafers and opting for retro streetwear. Plus, despite its paternal undertones, it’s a gender-neutral style that anyone can attempt in 2024.

Just peachy

Thanks to Pantone’s latest Colour of the Year announcement revealing that “Peach Fuzz” will be the colour of 2024, it may be time to start swapping out your favourite Barbie pink pieces for even softer shades.

Of course, the newly favoured hue may not take over instantaneously, but we can envision the easily wearable colour creeping into our wardrobes and makeup bags in no time (plus, imagine the manicure possibilities!).

Designers like Patou, Alaïa and Balmain were all ahead of the game, showcasing an array of peachy-chic looks on the Spring 2024 runways, and according to Pantone, the warm colour was chosen to “convey feelings of care, collaboration and community” as we move into 2024.

Mini hemlines

With the matronliness of grandmacore seemingly on its way out, sky-high hemlines are on their way back in. The 1960s mod style is back with barely-there hemlines seen across the 2024 runways and on social media in recent months.

Whether you were looking at Gucci, Mugler, Chanel or Tom Ford’s Spring 2024 collections, micro hemlines for both mini-skirts and hot pants were inescapable. Not only does this trend make sense with the decline of grandmacore, it also complements indie sleaze and the already-popular no-pants look.

And with stars like Olivia Rodrigo leaning so heavily into the preppy look with her minis and knee socks in 2023, are we even surprised that this beloved barely there trend will be on the rise in 2024?

Sailor chic

Characterized by elements of traditional nautical uniforms (think: stripes, boat shoes and crisp tailoring), the “sailor chic” aesthetic is poised to make some major waves on the 2024 fashion scene.

Louis Vuitton’s recent men’s pre-Fall 2024 show featured an abundance of maritime imagery, including precise white piping on double-breasted suits, striking sailor hats and white crew necks paired with polished black footwear.

Miu Miu also forecasted an affinity for coastal couture next year with their Spring 2024 collection. Stars like Troye Sivan and Gigi Hadid walked the runway in naval-inspired outfits complete with high-collared preppy polo shirts and lots of bright white drawstring detailing.

While out running errands with her husband, the model paired an oversized red sweatshirt with a loose-fitting camel coat from The Row, Mary Jane flats from Sandy Liang with preppy white socks, a top-handle Saint Laurent duffle bag and a vintage Nike baseball cap.

The month prior, the A-lister also rocked the pantsless look — or so it seemed.

For this NYC outing, Bieber is actually wearing a barely-there leather miniskirt from Cultnaked, which she paired with Calzedonia sheer black tights, heeled Mary Janes from Proenza Schouler and a maroon Chanel Boston bag. She opted for lots of layers on top to balance out the outfit with a loose-fitting black sweatshirt and a rich eggplant-coloured oversized coat.

It’s no surprise that the seasoned model knows how to adapt her wardrobe to the changing seasons, and she proved that she’s a pro at transitional fashion with this all-black evening ensemble she wore in NYC.

Bieber showed off her abs in a black bra top and a midi-skirt with a ruched waistband that dipped just below her belly button. She mixed in traditionally autumnal elements, including a trench coat, mid-calf heeled leather boots and a leather shoulder bag.

There are few things we love more than a fashion-filled press tour for a new film, and Timothée Chalamet is currently feeding into our obsession with his Wonka promotional style.

In the new retelling of the classic Ronald Dahl story, Chalamet plays a young Willy Wonka who’s modelled after Gene Wilder’s eccentric and outgoing Wonka from the original 1971 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. In keeping with the method dressing approach that many actors have been taking on recent red carpets (which is when an actor channels their character from the project they’re promoting through their fashion), it makes sense that many of Timmy’s Wonka press tour looks are seemingly inspired by the iconic chocolatier.

And tbh, we’d expect nothing less from Timothée, seeing as the actor has never been one to shy away from a daring fashion moment. Who could forget his head-turning bright red backless halter-neck ensemble from the 2022 Venice Film Festival or the many times that he’s made headlines for donning womenswear to black-tie events?

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Chalamet called Zendaya a “great example” for how actors should be dressing as they promote their latest projects. As he posed for selfies and signed autographs, the actor looked dapper in a double-breasted blazer that faded from retro grey into a classic black hue. He paired the ombré overcoat with sleek tailored trousers, shiny dress shoes and an eye-catching sparkly necklace and bracelet combo.

Shimmery womenswear moments

For the Paris premiere of Wonka on December 1, Timmy sported a beaded top from Tom Ford’s Spring 2024 womenswear collection, taking “jeans and a nice top” to new fashionable heights. He paired the shimmery look with simple black slacks and boots, allowing the tank’s thousands of beads to truly shine. Plus, fans were extra impressed that the actor managed to still look “so naturally hot” in the sleeveless shirt while it was allegedly only -3°C that evening. Anything for the look, right?

Making an appearance at The Game Awards in Los Angeles on December 7, the actor channelled Gene Wilder’s Wonka in a surprisingly traditional, yet timeless, head-to-toe Celine suit.

Chalamet still made the spiffy ensemble his own by focusing on subtle details, including flared trousers in a barely-there pinstriped design that matched his four-button vest. Plus, instead of a traditional tie, he left his white-collared shirt slightly unbuttoned for a more relaxed look. As expected, he accessorized the outfit with his signature Chelsea boots and an elegant silver necklace.

While attending the Los Angeles premiere on December 10, Chalamet chose to sport another adventurous look from one of his favourite designers, Tom Ford.

The custom ombre suit featured a croco-embossed single-breasted jacket with matching trousers in a deep chocolate hue — very fitting considering he’s playing one of the world’s most well-known chocolatiers. Then, he finished the look with Chelsea boots (also by the designer) and his signature jewels.

And, although they weren’t pictured together, his rumoured girlfriend, Kylie Jenner and her mother, Kris, were also allegedly in attendance to support the actor on his big night — how sweet!

At the world premiere of Wonka in London on November 28, the actor wore yet another look from the Tom Ford Spring 2024 collection (we’re sensing a pattern here). For this look, Chalamet chose a head-to-toe velvet suit in a striking plum colour that was reminiscent of the iconic purple jacket Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka wears in the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Timmy added a slightly scandalous touch by foregoing a shirt, letting his custom Cartier candy-inspired necklace, on which he worked closely with the jeweller, take centre stage.

During an outdoor press stop in London on November 27, Timothée Chalamet displayed his Wonka style once again a pinstriped suit from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2024 menswear collection. The suit featured an interesting layered design with a subtle peplum jutting out from the actor’s hips and falling into a short train, a unique and playful silhouette that felt like something Gene Wilder’s Wonka would wear to a black-tie event. He kept the rest of the look simple with lace-up boots and his classic Cartier jewels.

In one of his most colourful looks to date, Chalamet wore a custom lavender patent leather set from Prada for the Tokyo premiere of Wonka on November 20. The actor paired the eye-catching look with sleek white boots and Cartier jewels (he’s an ambassador for the house). Not only does the glossy purple look act as a callback to the original Wonka’s memorable purple jacket, but the outfit’s shiny finish can’t help but remind us of some of our favourite candies. Laffy Taffy anyone?

The Kylie effect

Arriving in Tokyo on November 18, Chalamet wore an all-black look topped by a statement leather maxi-coat and chunky boots. Though we’d once label this look as “Matrixcore,” we can’t help but see the similarities between Timmy’s leather jacket and several pieces from his rumoured girlfriend Kylie Jenner’s debut Khy collection. We’re not sure if this ensemble is hinting at any future coordinated couple looks from the duo, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out.

After Gomez confirmed her romance, the first question on everyone’s minds naturally seemed to be, who exactly is Benny Blanco?

According to Business Insider, Blanco is a prominent music producer who has worked with notable entertainers such as Rihanna, Maroon 5, Halsey, Gomez herself and yes, her famous ex, Justin Bieber (more on that later).

In addition to producing her latest song, ironically titled “Single Soon,” Blanco has worked with Gomez to create some of her biggest hits, including “Same Old Love” and “Kill ‘Em With Kindness,” which were released in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

When did Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco start dating?

The exact timeline of the new couple’s relationship is blurry, but Gomez did let fans in on some details when she publicly announced the romance through a series of Instagram interactions on December 7.

It all began when Gomez liked a post from the celebrity news Instagram account @popfactions which addressed rumours that she had started dating Blanco. This interaction then prompted the media website to share another post stating that Gomez had seemingly confirmed the relationship, to which the singer then commented “Facts.” Enough said.

Soon after, Gomez hard-launched the relationship on her Instagram story, posting a photo that had her snuggling into Blanco’s shoulder. Afterwards, the Rare Beauty founder wrote “[Blanco] is my absolute everything in my heart” in a separate @popfactions post. 

After confirming her updated relationship status through both the social media interactions and her own Instagram story post, Gomez responded to a fan’s comment on Instagram revealing that she and Blanco have been together for six months (there seem to be inconsistencies with this timeline — more on that later as well).

Are they engaged?

If news travels fast on social media then rumours must fly at lightning speed, because just a day after Gomez confirmed her new relationship, murmurs of the pair being engaged were already swirling. This began after Gomez shared another Instagram story  showcasing a “B” wrap ring on her left hand’s ring finger on December 8.

Though Gomez didn’t respond to any of the engagement comments, she was also seen wearing the ring when she stepped out in New York City that same day. According to Page Six, the piece is a custom Jacquie Aiche design and features .44 carats of pavé diamonds.

Why are people upset with Selena?

Although some fans were happy for the star and her new romance, others didn’t share the same feelings. Fans quickly took to @popcrave’s comment section to voice their disapproval of the relationship, especially since Blanco had allegedly spoken badly about Gomez in the past.

Not one to shy away from an upsetting comment or two, Selena Gomez began responding to the drama and fans’ criticisms, going as far as to respond to some by saying “If you can’t accept me at my happiest then don’t be in [my] life at all.”

Soon after, people began to call out Gomez for what they perceived as hypocrisy. This included fans sharing receipts of when Gomez was caught liking shady comments about the Biebers on Instagram and TikTok. A few followers also brought up an old Instagram screenshot that showed Gomez being critical of Justin for defending his then-girlfriend against haters on Instagram, telling him to “stop posting pictures of your girlfriend” if he couldn’t handle the hate. People quickly noted that Gomez’s defence of Blanco on social media seemed to be in direct opposition to the old advice she gave to Bieber in the screenshot.

Then came the aforementioned timeline issue. Speculation on social media suggested that, if Gomez had indeed been dating Blanco for six months, the star wasn’t actually single while she was promoting her latest song, “Single Soon,” (which, as the title suggests, is about celebrating single life). Why does this matter, you ask? Because Gomez has made being single a fundamental part of her branding — posting TikToks and even selling merchandise that promoted this narrative — many of her followers feel as though they’ve been lied to.

How is Taylor Swift involved?

After confirming her new relationship status on Thursday night, Gomez joined her bestie Taylor Swift as well as other friends Cara Delevingne, Anya Taylor-Joy and Zoë Kravitz for a girls’ night out in New York City.

Why is a dinner causing so much fuss? Well, fans have noticed a trend that has connected many of her recent public outings with Swift. Apparently, after Gomez has been caught in drama on social media, it’s become common for her to be seen hanging out with Swift the next day. Some social media users have speculated that these conveniently timed hangouts are done to benefit Gomez with some positive PR. (It’s worth noting that Gomez and Swift have long been genuinely good friends. So, to be fair, the timing of these outings could be purely coincidental.)

Regardless of all the online drama, Gomez seems to be stress-free IRL. While she was defending her relationship with Blanco under the @popcrave post, the actress shared that she’s planning on taking a break from social media until she has to use her platforms for work purposes again.

Wherever this story goes, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for new updates on Selena Gomez and any other drama that comes her way in the coming weeks. And in the meantime, perhaps we can all just let her dine out in peace.

One of this year’s most-anticipated and fashion-filled concert movies, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, had two star-studded premieres in Los Angeles and London ahead of the film’s global release and, of course, both events were full of shimmery opulence and high drama.

For the fashionable U.K. premiere, Beyoncé wowed in not one but two dazzling looks.

The “Break My Soul” singer’s first outfit consisted of a custom Thom Browne couture gown with a peekaboo bodysuit fitted with a long, flowing train. She accessorized the hand-embroidered crystal look with black platform booties, fingerless gloves and dangly crystal earrings.

The sparkly gown complemented Taylor Swift’s shimmery silver dress, as the two stars posed together on the carpet.

Just as Beyoncé showed her support for Swift by attending her Eras Tour film premiere in October, Swift hit the Renaissance movie’s London carpet for another sweet legends-supporting-legends moment.

Swift followed the event’s silver theme, wearing a high-slit sequinned Balmain gown with Anita Ko jewels and Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe heels.

Later in the evening, Bey changed into her second look of the night, which also happened to be designed by Balmain.

As the guest of honour, Beyoncé shone in a custom strapless Versace dress constructed with the brand’s signature chainmail design. With its statement neckline and matching metallic gloves, the dress nodded to many of the couture outfits the singer wore throughout the Renaissance Tour’s five-month run. To finish off her futuristic premiere outfit, Bey sported a straight, hip-length platinum blonde hairdo and soft glam makeup.

In addition to the droves of stars who came out for the exciting occasion, Beyoncé’s former Destiny’s Child group members Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett all made a special appearance to support their (a moment that Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles shared in a sweet Instagram post). And, of course, each of the girls followed the unofficial theme of the evening with their head-turning looks.

In a subtle nod to Madonna, whom Beyoncé has cited as her inspiration on numerous occasions, Rowland donned a silver mermaid-style dress with an accented cone bra from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2023 couture collection. She complimented the dazzling dress with matching metallic heels and blindingly sparkly jewels.

Taking a more dramatic approach, the rest of the Destiny’s Child ladies opted for sleek, all-black looks. Williams embraced the no-pants trend by wearing a bodysuit with an exaggerated collar and a sheer skirt fitted with a tulle train by Bishme Cromartie. Roberson went for an asymmetrical look in a black velvet gown with a diamond-shaped cutout detail. Lastly, Luckett wore a black long-sleeved leather gown, accessorizing with a clutch and heels in Bey’s signature silver.

After the hundreds of custom designer looks that Queen Bey sported throughout the Renaissance tour, it’s no surprise that some of the evening’s A-list attendees wanted to pay homage to Beyoncé’s iconic on-stage presence with their premiere outfits.

Singer Victoria Monét did just that with a bright red hooded custom Theophilio ensemble, which featured a flowing train and matching mesh red opera gloves. This outfit emulated a hooded crimson mini-dress by Carolina Herrera that Beyoncé wore during the Hamburg, Germany stop of the tour.

Other special chrome carpet guests, such as the Alien Superstar themself, made references to more unforgettable moments of the tour.

In addition to showcasing Bey’s high-energy, superstar-level performances (not to mention tour looks), Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé delivers intimate, behind-the-scenes details on the making of the tour. Plus, the movie dives into Bey’s own personal journey of putting the world tour together, which reportedly helped her transform from a self-proclaimed “people pleaser” to the bona fide superstar she is today.

Members Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé attended a state banquet held at the palace on November 21 in honour of the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and First Lady, Kim Keon Hee, visiting the Britain.

For the formal occasion, the ladies of Blackpink dressed in a array of elegant gowns that highlighted their personalities and individual tastes.

Jennie, who is also an ambassador for Calvin Klein, donned a white, off-the-shoulder gown with long sleeves by bridal designer Lihi Hod which she paired with a floral Chanel ring.

On the other hand, Jisoo, who is an ambassador for Dior, wore an all-black puff-sleeved dress from the brand’s Cruise 2024 collection. Rosé also opted for a classic black gown, hers a weetheart neckline creation by Korean designer Pinkong. To add a bit of sparkle, she accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewels.

Lastly, Lisa brought a pop of colour to the group in a Georges Hobeika aquamarine cape dress adorned with shimmery star embellishments. The tulle dress featured a flowing cape that look right at home trailing behind her down palace hallways.

At the banquet, the women received a special shoutout from King Charles III thanking them for their years of environmental activism and advocacy. The King specifically highlighted the important role that the group has played in getting younger generations involved with such causes in both South Korea and the United Kingdom.

Each member of Blackpink was also awarded an honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire at a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace the day after. These honours were specifically bestowed upon the women in recognition of their involvement as Advocates for the United Nations’ 2021 COP26 Summit.

In celebration of Blackpink’s historic visit to the U.K. (this was the first time that a girl group *this* popular has rubbed elbows with the monarch since the Spice Girls’ infamous Prince Charles visit in 1997!), the palace pulled out all the stops — which even included the King’s orchestra performing a special rendition of the group’s hit song, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” outside of Buckingham Palace.

Could an actual Blackpink performance at Buckingham Palace be in the group’s future? Only time will tell… but King Charles certainly hopes so.

To promote the latest installment of The Hunger Games series, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, every one of Schafer’s fashion choices has been a showstopper — and looks like it was plucked straight from Panem’s Capitol (IYKYK).

With the help of stylist Dara Allen, who is also the fashion director of Interview magazine, Schafer has been channelling her Songbirds & Snakes character Tigris Snow through a series of artful and inventive looks. In the film, Schafer’s character is the older cousin of Coriolanus Snow (a.k.a. the future President of Panem and the series’ main antagonist) as well as a fashion stylist apprentice whose love for clothes is a key facet of her personality.

With style playing such an important role in Tigris’ storyline, it’s fitting that Schafer and Allen have been channelling creativity through her press tour outfits, which kicked off with a bang at the film’s Berlin premiere earlier this month.

To walk her first Ballad of Songbirds red carpet, Schafer wowed in a Schiaparelli couture dress that looked like it was painted directly onto her body. With a variety of mosaic-style, hand-painted pieces, the midi-dress stopped just below her knees in a tattered hemline and featured exaggeratedly long sleeves that covered Schafer’s hands entirely.

The unconventional and almost animalistic elements of this dress call to mind Tigris’ changing appearance in the original Hunger Games films.

When the audience meets a much older Tigris in Mockingjay Part 2 (2015), she has dramatically altered her appearance with tattoos and surgical enhancements to resemble an actual Tiger. Though the exact reason for this dramatic change in appearance is never explicitly stated in the books, there has been speculation that Tigris used these artful methods to transform herself in retaliation against her cousin’s increasingly tyrannical ways.

For her next Ballad of Songbirds red carpet at the film’s London world premiere, Schafer wore a two-piece Prada ensemble that made it look as though she’d been dipped in liquid gold. The outfit’s bra top, bolero jacket and maxi-skirt were embellished with long, dangling black ribbons that contrasted the bright gold hue.

The over-the-top opulence of this outfit can once again be linked back to Tigris and the overall eccentric style that many Hunger Games characters are known for.

In The Hunger Games, the rich live in a futuristic, utopian city called the Capitol that’s isolated from the rest of the country and thus never has to deal with any of the issues (such as poverty, poor working conditions and the yearly threat of the Hunger Games themselves) that plague Panem’s twelve districts. As such, it’s commonplace for Capitol citizens, one of which Tigris once was, to display their wealth with audacious outfits and extravagant accessories, like Schafer’s gold outfit.

And this wasn’t Schafer’s only look that included a direct nod to Panem’s Capitol. In fact, her latest red carpet outfit was quickly recognized by many original Hunger Games fans as an ode to another beloved character.

For the film’s New York premiere on November 15, Schafer wore a blossoming floral Marni dress from the designer’s Spring 2024 collection. The structured minidress was adorned with 3D flowers that jutted out in all directions, reminiscent of the iconic 2011 Alexander McQueen butterfly dress (which happens to be crucial to next year’s Met Gala theme) that Capitol citizen Effie Trinket wore in an original Hunger Games film.

While this foray into the art of red carpet method dressing is a first for Schafer, the actress is no stranger to serving up head-turning red carpet outfits.

Schafer, who is best known for playing Jules in Euphoria, made headlines last Oscar season when she hit the Vanity Fair after-party in a daring top from Ann Demeulemeester comprised of a single white feather across her breasts. Paired with an extra low-rise white silk skirt, the star’s look was all anyone wanted to talk about at last year’s event.

After opening with a $98 million global release at the box office during its first weekend, The Ballad of Songbirds is off to a strong start. As the cast embarks on their last few press stops, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more stellar red carpet moments from Schafer and her costars, such as Rachel Zegler, who has also been channelling iconic Hunger Games characters with her premiere looks.

For the outing, Rocky donned pieces from the new collection, which included baggy blue pants detailed with white stitching and a neon green graphic tee underneath a grey logo-adorned jacket. To accessorize his race weekend wear, he wore a seatbelt-style belt, a navy blue baseball cap, neon yellow shoes and matching neon gloves from his latest brand partnership.

Rihanna matched her beau’s vibe with a long, multi-pocketed dark brown leather jacket that featured a high collar and silver embellishments. She finished off the sleek look with Messika jewellery, black pumps and a slicked-back top knot. Our favourite detail though? Her neon green nails, which were undoubtedly a nod to Rocky’s collection that proved, once again, that the couple are masters at subtly coordinating their looks down to every last detail.

Although we may be most used to seeing the couple deliver head-turning looks at major events like last weekend’s race or Paris Fashion Week, the parents of two consistently serve fashion in their more low-key moments, too.

While taking their oldest son RZA out for a day at the park on November 13, Rihanna and A$AP sported a matching look in Loewe tracksuit jackets with light-wash baggy jeans. They even wore similar accessories, each donning black belts and navy baseball caps to complete their fashion-forward streetwear looks. Was RZA also wearing a Loewe zip-up?? We need to know!

While they’re pros at donning carefully coordinated looks (a feat that not all celebrity couples have as easily accomplished), RiRi and A$AP rarely ever match to this extent. Instead, they often opt for complementary pieces and sometimes dress in a similar palette. But Rihanna is nothing if not a style chameleon and we’re into this cute couple style moment.

At a Paris Fashion Week event in 2022, Rihanna and A$AP proved that outfits can work together while still looking unique. While Rihanna sported a sweet head-to-toe peach look, consisting of a leather mini-dress and a shearling coat, A$AP went in the total opposite direction with a tough black leather ensemble. Despite the differences between the two looks, the contrasting colour palettes and matching textures work.

A patterned pair

Just a few days after they wore a series of glamorous looks at the 2023 Oscars back in March of this year, Rihanna and A$AP kept things casual with their similar patterned tops, loose-fitting denim bottoms and chunky boots.

Complementary colours

While celebrating the Fenty Beauty x Fenty Skin event back in February of 2022, Rihanna sported was of her most famous maternity looks in a custom set by The Attico. A$AP wore a purple Louis Vuitton varsity jacket and distressed denim to the event, with the subtle green accents on his jacket sleeves and shoes complementing RiRi’s sequinned top.

To support Pharrell’s debut Louis Vuitton presentation at the brand’s Spring 2024 show in Paris, the duo wore one of their most matchy-matchy looks ever.

A$AP wore light-wash denim pieces adorned with the brand’s LV logo, while Rihanna went with a darker denim ensemble adorned with Pharrell’s signature pixellated LV pattern. Of course, they both wore crystal-embellished beanies to tie the looks together.

Grey matter

While attending the red carpet premiere of Black Panther 2 in October 2022, the couple took their love of high fashion to new heights, er, lengths with both RiRi and A$AP’s outfits featuring subtle trains.

For her part, Rihanna wore a grey sequinned strapless gown with denim stitching, completing the look with slouchy opera gloves and matching heels. A$AP matched Rihanna’s vibe with a similar grey denim-on-denim look, which, of course, featured its own mini-train.

A black tie affair

The duo stunned at the 80th annual Golden Globe awards in one of their most glamorous couple looks yet.

Rihanna wowed in a black velvet Schiaparelli couture gown with voluminous, cape-like sleeves. She accessorized the look with a jaw-dropping diamond necklace and earrings that, combined with her updo, gave her look an old Hollywood vibe. A$AP kept his look simple with a sleek black tux that matched his girlfriend’s outfit while letting her have the spotlight.

Lots of leather

Sunglasses at night have never looked cooler. While enjoying a date night back in May 2023, Rihanna’s fashion-forward pregnancy look was comprised of a fuzzy grey turtleneck crop top, a black leather skirt and one of the most luxurious-looking faux fur jackets we’ve ever seen.

We know, we’re shocked too. If you’ve been going through the seven stages of grief due to the sudden loss of Styles’ locks, you’re not alone. Styles stans are, for the most part, not OK.

Styles was spotted sporting a fresh buzzcut while attending a U2 concert at the Las Vegas Sphere with rumoured girlfriend, Canadian actress Taylor Russell. And, although the concert was one of Styles and Russell’s most public outings to date, the singer’s new nearly bald head overshadowed his new romance.

As a celebrity whose hair has been synonymous with his superstar image over the years, it’s no surprise that fans had a strong reaction to his new haircut. And they had some pretty unique ways of expressing their *passionate* feelings about the new look.

Some used humour to cope with their shock, like one fan who captioned images of his new look with cheeky lines like “harry styles but no hair to style.”

Others weren’t handling it as well, with some expressing feelings of complete and utter despair at the sudden loss of Styles’ beloved curls.

Fans have also noticed how ironic it is that Styles chopped off his famous locks right after Taylor Swift came out with a new song from her recently released album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) that mentions one of his most memorable hairstyles. Titled “Now That We Don’t Talk,” the new tune contains lyrics that seem to be directed at how Styles grew his hair long after the pair broke up in 2013. 10 years later, it’s a funny coincidence that Styles’ hair is now the shortest it’s ever been — by far.

Despite seeing the paparazzi-style photos of his new hairstyle, one fan decided that she needed confirmation from a very trusted source — Styles’ mom, Anne. After coincidently running into her over the weekend, the fan asked Anne if she could confirm that the new look was real. Her response? She allegedly stated that “[Harry’s] on holiday and he fancied a change.” There you have it folks, confirmation straight from Harry’s mum herself!

Amid all the wild, eccentric, sequin-filled and boa-adorned outfits that Styles has sported in recent years, his famous brunette curls have remained relatively unchanged. The power of this hairstyle also extends far beyond Styles’ solo career; fans who’ve watched the singer grow up before their eyes for the past 13 years have only known him with long-ish, sometimes shaggy, brown waves.

Looking back on his early X Factor and One Direction days, Styles’ curly chestnut locks were what made him distinguishable from his bandmates. As the years went on, the singer’s hair remained one of the focal points of his image, whether it was on the shorter side or if it was grown out into his infamous Tarzan-esque mop of the mid-2010s.

As he embarked on his solo career, Styles debuted a much shorter hairdo, but the curls were still on full display. Even as he’s transformed his look over the last few years, his iconic tousled hairstyle has mostly stayed the same — except for the close-cropped looks he sported in the films Don’t Worry Darling and The Policeman.

Still, no style has ever been as drastic of a change as the shaved-head look that he’s sporting now.

Nevertheless, Harry’s mother’s explanation of her son switching up his hairstyle because he wanted a change while he takes a break from the spotlight makes total sense. Up until July 2023, the “As It Was” singer was on tour for almost two years straight, while simultaneously filming movies, developing his beauty brand, Pleasing, and putting out a new album. Since wrapping up his final stop on the worldwide Love On Tour last summer, the singer has been taking some time off and has rarely been spotted in public.

During the few instances where fans have caught a glimpse of Styles this fall, he’s often been seen with Russell, the Bones and All star who has sported her own fair share of unique hairstyles. Although neither Styles nor Russell has yet to confirm their relationship, the two have been spotted holding hands in London, Barcelona and Russell’s hometown of Vancouver.

While we wait to see what’s next for the singer, we’ll be trying to console ourselves with the hope that this won’t be our final farewell to Styles’ infamous curly locks. Because, after all, hair grows back… right?

There were some major developments in the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance this weekend as the Chiefs player joined his superstar girlfriend on the Buenos Aires, Argentina stop of her Eras tour.

After the singer had to reschedule her Friday night concert due to extreme weather conditions, Kelce was seen watching Swift’s Saturday night show alongside her dad, Scott, in the concert’s VIP tent. Multiple fan photos and videos captured the Kansas City player’s cheerful and happy vibe throughout the evening — but nothing could have prepared Swifties, and Kelce, for a moment that was to come later in the show.

During her “Midnights” set, Swift made a coy lyric change to her song “Karma” that had everyone in the sold-out stadium surprised. Instead of singing, “Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me” (which many fans feel was a reference to her now ex-boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn), Swift sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me” — a clear shoutout to her new boo.

Of course, fans caught Kelce’s reaction in real time. The moment elicited a huge response from both the football player and Scott — who seemed to excitedly pat Kelce on the back as the two laughed along after hearing the new lyrics.

In response, Kelce blew Swift a kiss with a subtle wave as she wrapped up the song.

But if all that cuteness wasn’t enough, the most exhilarating moment for Swift, Kelce and Swifties happened right after the show ended. Immediately after taking her final bows, Swift ran straight off the stage and right into Kelce’s arms in a romcom moment. Of course, Swifties captured multiple angles of the sweet embrace, which have all gone viral on social media with millions of views each.

Some fans also noticed a small, yet important, detail of the couple’s off-stage interaction. After observing how Kelce was patiently waiting for Swift to greet him with his hands behind his back, Swifties theorized that the football player stood that way to purposefully give the singer total control of the situation.

With all eyes on them 24/7, the couple have to constantly be aware of how much PDA they’re willing to show. But, in that adorable Saturday night moment, Kelce’s respectful stance allowed Swift to decide how she would greet him in front of the cameras — which, ultimately, created the super cute, genuine moment that we all got to see.

Known for his usually eccentric style, Kelce dressed up for the big night in a multi-coloured, button-down shirt adorned with big floral details. He kept the rest of the look simple with blue trousers and a watch, yet it was the stack of friendship bracelets that he wore on his right wrist that really captured fans’ attention.

While Swift was mostly seen in her concert outfits all weekend, she did debut two new pink looks for the “Lover” era of the show. The first was an updated pink version of the crystal-embroidered Versace bodysuit that she opens the show in (which she paired with brand-new matching glittery pink Louboutin boots, of course). To match the new Versace look, Swift also donned a new blazer embellished with fuschia crystals over the costume as she performed her hit feminist anthem, “The Man.”

It can be hard to believe that the new looks, thrilling lyric change and heartwarming embrace all happened in just one weekend, but there really hasn’t been a dull “Tayvis” moment since rumours of their new romance were first heard last summer.

As Kelce travels back to the U.S. for football and Swift begins the international leg of her tour, no one is quite sure of what the near future holds for the new couple. But rest assured, we’ll be keeping an eye out for any new fashionable looks and PDA moments they choose to share with us.

Prior to their big Argentine weekend, Swift and Kelce, also commonly known as America’s new royal couple, made not one, but two stylish appearances in New York City in October — and between their sweet PDA and coordinating styles, it’s clear that sparks were flying.

The couple was first seen on the way to the Saturday Night Live after-party on October 14 after both Swift and Kelce each made surprise cameos during the show’s much-anticipated season premiere.

For the late-night outing, Swift donned a long plaid trench coat over an all-black outfit consisting of pleated trousers and a Versace satin corset top embellished with the designer’s trademark Medusa logo on its gold chain straps. For jewellery, the singer adorned her ears with a stack of studs and hoops along with a single gold chainlink necklace by Mazin Jewels.

To complete the look, she accessorized with black heeled sandals (which she was still shorter than Kelce in, much to the delight of Swifties everywhere) and a black braided-handle handbag. Her glam was signature Taylor Swift: blonde hair styled into a neat updo, signature cat eye and red lip.

Kelce, on the other hand, went for a slightly more colourful ensemble in a cream-coloured Jil Sander knit jacket that was embellished with embroidered birds. The football player complemented the jacket’s brown accent colour with matching leather pants and tied the look together with white sneakers.

Talk about hard-launching in style!

And if Saturday night’s look wasn’t enough, the couple seemingly swapped vibes for their second date night of the weekend on October 15.

Walking hand-in-hand during another outing in NYC, it was Swift’s turn to wear the more colourful and patterned ensemble.

Featuring a long-sleeve green and pink floral mesh top by Jean Paul Gaultier, a black leather miniskirt, a burgundy baguette bag and lace-up chunky heel booties, the “Anti-Hero” singer somehow managed to look both edgy and sweet.

But the biggest surprise of the ensemble was her beauty look. With her wavy hair was tucked backed, Swift debuted a rare makeup routine change, ditching the red lip and cat eye for a more bronze eyelid and light pink lip.

While Swift’s outfit was more dark and moody, Kelce did a complete style 180 from his date. The football player opted for an oversized look in a light cream-coloured corduroy button-down and pants set which he paired with squeaky clean white Nike sneakers. Kelce tied the couple’s image together with a black tee that seamlessly complemented Swift’s almost all-black look.

Beyond their fashionable ’fits, the new couple seemed to be all smiles throughout their busy weekend with reports revealing that they allegedly couldn’t keep their hands off each other during their dates. Fans have noticed this too, and have specifically noted the funny way in which Kelce seems to be holding Swift’s hand like it’s a football.

It seems like it was just yesterday that Kelce was trying to get Swift’s attention with the phone number-adorned friendship bracelet that he made for the singer. Well, thanks to the events of the last few weeks, it seems that the Kansas City Chiefs’ plan has worked out perfectly and we can’t wait to see where the happy couple’s “Love Story” goes next.

Hey Siri, play “You Belong With Me.” Fourteen years after Taylor Swift released her hit song, which references having a crush on her school’s popular football player, the singer accepted Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce’s invitation to watch him play against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium — and she brought her signature T-Swift style to the game.

After a series of romcom-like events, Swift basically broke the internet while cheering from Kelce’s family suite (alongside his mother, Donna) in a game day outfit decked out in the team’s signature red and white colours. She even included a swipe of her signature red lipstick, so you know it’s getting serious. (JK… or maybe not?)

Swift wore a white tank top and black denim shorts from Australian brand, KSUBI, as the base of her sporty ’fit. She then upgraded the look with pops of red including a crimson manicure and red, white and black New Balance 550 sneakers. The “Bejewelled” singer accessorized her football Sunday ensemble with gold and diamond jewellery, including a casual $14K necklace, from luxury jewellery brand Jared.

Naturally, the true star of the outfit was the alleged “exclusive” Kansas City Chiefs team jacket Swift wore, which fans speculate Kelce gave Swift to wear for the occasion — further fuelling rumours of their budding romance.

And real fans know that Swift is no stranger to relationship dressing. Who could forget Tom Hiddleston sporting an “I ♥ T.S.” white tank top while the couple were dating back in 2016? Other exes such as John Mayer, Taylor Lautner and Harry Styles have all been spotted wearing complementary outfits with Swift while they were together.

It seems like her *potential* new boyfriend has already hopped on this trend, too. Many fans were quick to point out that Kelce’s pre- and post-game outfit seemed like a classic Swift-approved Easter egg.

For his off-the-field Sunday look, Kelce wore a two-piece cream denim jacket and pants set with a painterly blue pattern. The KidSuper Studios outfit, which is aptly named the “1989 Bedroom Painting Set,” seems like a nod to Swift’s fifth studio album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” which she just so happens to be releasing next month. The football player accessorized the — allegedly — themed look with a stack of silver metal chain necklaces, including a 19-carat Cuban link piece, which were also from Jared. You know the saying: The couple that shops luxury together stays together!

Kelce’s apparent enthusiasm for Swift’s next album falls in line with how unapologetically interested he’s been in Swift — both on a romantic and fan level — in recent months.

After attending an Eras Tour concert back in July, Kelce explained how he tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it. Fast forward a few months later, and the football player publicly shared that he “threw the ball in her court” in regards to his game invitation to Swift, which she evidently took him up on. For non-football fans, this has been more exciting than Super Bowl Sunday! (Unless Rihanna‘s performing, of course.)

Swifties seem generally quite supportive of Kelce and Swift’s new romance, with fans cracking an abundance of jokes about how Swift has finally found a potential partner who not only matches her level of success, but is also significantly taller than her. (Swift is five feet 10 inches tall, which is teensy compared to Kelce’s six feet five inches. We love that for her.)

Although this was the duo’s first public outing, many fans are rooting for them to make it official, and with all eyes on them the entire game, the pair were even seen leaving the stadium in Kelce’s convertible, making for a very cinematic end to their evening. Who knew football could be so compelling?

There are two particularly memorable scenes in both the first and second Hunger Games films wherein Katniss dons gowns that transform into a flurry of flames along the hemline as she spins. These dresses, and their respective fiery spectacles, represent the District 12 tribute’s intense, fighting spirit while establishing her as a force to be reckoned with both in and out of the arena.

And, although The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is actually a prequel to the original films, it’s clear that Zegler was honouring Katniss (and her leading lady predecessor, Lawrence), while also drawing parallels between her Songbirds character, Lucy Gray Baird, and the films’ former heroine with her red carpet look.

Though her bold premiere outfit caught the attention of both old and new Hunger Games fans, it’s not the only movie star style moment we’ve seen from Zegler lately. With the help of stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley, the 22-year-old has been spotted in a variety of elevated looks while promoting the film, which received an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA that has allowed its stars to advertise the movie amidst the ongoing Hollywood strike.

Aside from her flame-inspired McQueen gown, Zegler has been seen in other red carpet takes on method dressing. While promoting the film in New York City, Zegler donned a Dior outfit that included an asymmetrical, one-shoulder white blouse, as well as a textured ombré yellow skirt full of intricate ruffles. This look was no doubt an ode to Lucy’s eye-catching tulle skirted rainbow dress from the new film, which is one of the character’s most recognizable outfits.

When it comes to her other press tour looks, Zegler also appears to be leaning into the quiet luxury aesthetic — and taking subtle styling cues from none other than Jennifer Lawrence whose recent style makeover has been turning heads. These looks come just a few months after Lawrence’s own style and career renaissance, which, as she moved away from her previously beloved quirky persona (and outgoing fashion sense), has included more mature, sophisticated outfits that now better represent the adult she is today.

As Lawrence has embarked on her recent style evolution, she’s become a street style icon with her often toned-down, yet always perfectly put together, looks. Favouring well-known “stealth wealth” brands such as The Row, she’s usually seen in neutral colours and relaxed layers, including loose-fitting trousers, as well as oversized sweaters and blazers.

Like Lawrence, Zegler also tried her hand at quiet luxury-inspired street style looks recently. In a series of photos posted by her stylist, Zegler was pictured walking her dog in an outfit comprised of minimalist labels. With a Kate Spade bag on her arm, Zegler subtly posed for the camera while sporting Icon Denim loose-fitting jeans, a simple white T-shirt by “less is more” brand St. Agni and a classic tan trench coat by J.Crew.

And beyond their newly similar styles, Zelger and Lawrence also share other career and fashion similarities. Just like how Lawrence got her big break after first playing Katniss in 2012, the forthcoming Hunger Games prequel is Zegler’s first major movie role (she previously starred as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 West Side Story adaptation).

On the style side of things, the fashion world is clearly taking notice of the rising star. Zegler has been seen in an increasing number of Dior looks lately, and was even called a “friend of the house” by the brand back in May. Incidentally, Lawrence has been a Dior ambassador since 2012, which was right around the time that the first Hunger Games film was released. The two stars even met this past September at a Dior show in Paris. Is a partnership between Zegler and Dior in the future? Only time will tell.

So what’s next for Zegler? The young actor will take on the titular role in Snow White, Disney’s latest live-action reimagining of the classic fairy tale, which is slated to premiere in 2025. Until then, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more method red carpet dressing and quiet luxury-inspired looks from the emerging star.

The brand’s freshly released debut collection, which was created in collaboration with Berlin-based brand, Namilia, features 12 items made predominately of faux black leather. With Khy’s goal to provide their customers with accessible wardrobe staples, Jenner’s decision to centre her line’s first drop around faux leather was no accident.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, leather is also ideal for the cooler months because it offers so much protection against the elements (why do you think it’s the go-to fabric of motorcycle enthusiasts?). Whether you’re opting for genuine or faux, most leather pieces are often lined with cotton, wool or sherpa that helps to retain heat while protecting you from the harsh subzero temperatures of the season.

Leather is also generally water-resistant too, so you won’t be soaked after getting caught in an unexpected snowfall. And, let’s be real, we Canadians will take all the help we can get in the winter weather department.

The show’s exciting theme also trickled down to its accessories, as seen by the collection’s oversized tote that featured a fittingly large (and very defined) embossed human torso design.

Influenced by AI, Susan Fang’s Spring 2024 collection was nothing short of electrifyingly eccentric — down to every last handbag.

While some purses were entirely made of resin and others were completely crocheted, each was embellished with an abundance of pearl-like 3D printed orbs that either decorated the outside of a bag or were fashioned into unique and functional chains.

Prada

Perhaps no other bags held as much historical meaning as Prada’s this season, as some featured an original design from the house’s co-founder (and Miuccia Prada’s grandfather), Mario Prada, dating back to 1913.

Over a hundred years later (and just in time for spooky season), Mario Prada’s design came to life through a frame evening bag, which featured a mythological figure sitting atop the clasp.

Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha quite literally took the cake with her handbags this season.

While there were a variety of different purse designs in the Spring 2024 collection, including multi-pocket creations and more traditional flap bags, all were adorned with lots (and lots) of pearls and bows.

The most creative of the collection? The two-tiered wedding cake draped in pearls that fittingly accompanied some of most bridal looks of the collection, which was aptly titled The Dress Rehearsal.

Ah the clear bag trend, we meet again.

Donned by festival-goers and fashionistas alike, the ubiquitous style was recently reimagined by some of the biggest designers. Favoured for their chameleon-like ability to go with almost any outfit, it’s no wonder the transparent purse trend continues to show up on the runway. Of course, their transparency may expose just how many lip products you’re carrying at any given moment, but why not display your liners, glosses and lipsticks with pride? A girl needs options!

Tory Burch

Just like the rest of the collection, the lone clear green clutch from Tory Burch’s Spring 2024 assortment looked both sleek and futuristic as it strutted down the runway.

The transparent trend showed up in other creations of the collection too, including a semi-see-through and innovative bag-inside-a-bag design.

PatBo

While we’re not quite sure about the functionality of this handbag, there’s no denying its artistry.

Created in collaboration with Raiffe, the twisted crystal glass handbag is made entirely of handblown glass from sustainable materials. Talk about a prized possession!

Versace

The purses from Versace’s Spring 2024 collection were nothing short of sheer excellence (sorry, we had to).

Featuring uniquely designed top handles that strutted down the runway in a variety of sorbet shades, the transparency of these bags paired nicely with the patterned preppy vibes and exuberance of the rest of the high-energy collection.

Compartment crazy

Cargo pants have been having their moment for some time now, and, after analyzing September’s Spring 2024 fashion month runways, it seems like that tried-and-true workwear style has translated to the accessory world.

And this is one Spring 2024 bag trend we can particularly get behind thanks to its intrinsically useful nature. With these carryalls, you can rest assured that you’ll never run out of pocket space for all your essentials.

Acne Studios

When Acne Studios’ multi-pocket bags came strutting down the Paris runway, we just couldn’t take our eyes off them. Between their extra exterior storage space and balletcore bow embellishments, it’s no surprise this bag is a fashion fan favourite.

Fendi

Fendi’s multi-pocket version of its truly iconic baguette bag is a playful reincarnation of one of fashion’s most beloved accessories.

Looking closely and you’ll notice that each pocket is a mini version of the classic baguette, a uniquely innovative twist that honours their signature design.

Miu Miu

Miu Miu’s Spring 2024 collection featured several cute bags with tons of helpful exterior storage, so we just have one question — how much stuff were they trying to carry that they couldn’t fit it in all those pockets?!

Bags that aren’t really bags

Fashion shows are a chance for designers to showcase their creativity artistry in whatever format they choose. Whether that creativity takes form as clay clothing or a mid-show mud fight, the runway is the designer’s stage for their most unique (and sometimes shocking) ideas.

That said, sometimes a designer’s innovation goes so far that the question of wearability (or in this case, functionality) is called into question. This category honours the unconventional and celebrates the items shown on the Spring 2024 fashion month catwalks that kinda-sorta of fall into the “bag” category (but also, not really). Hear us out.

But while many big names sported looks that lived up to the infamous Halloween hype, this year’s costume planning was a bit more of a challenge for some SAG-AFTRA members.

Due to the ongoing Hollywood strike, the union issued strict guidelines on what members should avoid dressing up as this Halloween, which essentially included all TV or movie characters from major production companies. Instead, the union suggested that members wear more generic costumes, such as ghosts, witches and zombies. So, if you’ve been surprised to see much less Barbie pink from celebs than you expected, you can thank the strike for that.

Although many stars seemingly abided by the rule, it appears that Megan Fox flouted the guideline with her costume. Over the weekend, the actress shared an Instagram post that showcased herself and fiancé Machine Gun Kelly dressed up as characters from the 2003 film, Kill Bill. Not only were the costumes inspired by forbidden film content, but Fox also tagged SAG-AFTRA in the post’s caption, making it clear that her and Kelly’s looks were a protest of the guideline.

Despite the challenges, many other celebrities made the best of the occasion. As always, we were waiting with bated breath for self-proclaimed “Queen of Halloween” Heidi Klum’s costume reveal, which she teased as “gigantic” on a recent Tonight Show appearance and through an Instagram post. Spoiler: It didn’t disappoint.

Heidi Klum outdid herself this spooky season, arriving at her annual star-studded Halloween soiree in NYC dressed as an elaborate peacock. But look a little closer and you realize her enormous feathered tail is actually… people! In a cool Canadian connection, Klum partnered with Cirque du Soleil on the extravagant costume which consisted of more than 650 feet of fabric, printed peacock feathers and Swarovski crystals, and took more than 2,000 hours to create at Cirque du Soleil’s Montreal headquarters, according to a press release. Never one to skimp on details, the elaborate red carpet reveal was choreographed by Cirque du Soleil’s creative director Michel Laprise and incorporated five Cirque du Soleil artists. Oh, Canada!

But while the term “going out top” may still ring a bell today, there’s been a lot of debate over their relevance in recent years. “Jeans and a cute top” has been replaced in many social settings by straight-leg denim and a crop top, or leather trousers and an oversized blazer. Well, ready or not, the going out top is having a renaissance — although it may look a little different these days.

The classic Y2K going out top rose to popularity in the early 2000s in the form of cute tank tops, slinky camisoles, and cheeky crop tops. They were often silky (read: made of pure polyester but resembling satin), sometimes off the shoulder, and always looked club-ready with a pair of skintight jeans, a little purse and sky-high heels.

Not to be confused with a baby tee, the other early aughts shirt staple, a going out top was reserved for “fancier” soirées because of its subtly dressy qualities. Think: the early 2000s supper club or the nice bar you and your college besties went to occasionally instead of the campus dive. They were often embellished with lace or sequins, which paired perfectly with glittery eyeshadow, of course. In terms of their silhouettes, they varied from daring backless looks that just belonged on the dance floor to flowy empire-waist tanks that sat wistfully above a pair low-rise jeans.

The versatility of the look was also a catalyst for its popularity. Think of the endless combinations of “jeans and a cute top” one wardrobe could produce! The beloved outfit combo even began popping up on red carpets in lieu of dresses. That’s right — from Rihanna’s mid-2000s performance looks to a 22-year-old’s bar-hopping outfit, the trend was inescapable in the aughts.

In 2023, going out tops have made a comeback. Just like their 2000s counterparts, they’re beloved for their versatility and ease.  You still can’t go wrong with pairing your night-out top with a pair of jeans, but in 2023, leather pants and the quintessential 2000s mini-skirt are also frequently seen alongside the staple top.

They’re also reliable because they’re easy to build a solid outfit around, which is a plus when you don’t know where your night out is headed. A 2023 going out top is suitable for most occasions, whether you’re enjoying drinks at your friend’s apartment or heading to your favourite karaoke bar.

What exactly is Kylie Jenner’s Khy?

Following her four other brands (Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Skin, Kylie Baby and Kylie Swim), the business mogul’s latest enterprise, Khy (which is a play on her nickname), is a clothing line based on the 26-year-old’s “personal wardrobe.” The brand aims to provide accessible staples and investment pieces that draw inspiration from Jenner’s “different moods” at a reasonable price point — currently, all pieces from its first drop are under $200 USD and are available in sizes ranging from XXS to 4X.

While it seems to be following the typical structure of the family’s other majorly successful brands —Kris Jenner and couple Jens and Emma Grede (of Kim Kardashian’s Skims and Khloé Kardashian’s Good American) are all co-founders — there is a unique aspect to Khy that sets it apart from many of the Kardashians’ other projects. What does Khy’s first collection look like?

Khy’s debut collection has been teased to be the marriage of Jenner’s mid-2010s, edgy “King Kylie” Tumblr-famous era  (which the businesswoman says is who she still “is at [her] core.”) and designer Namilia’s provocative, gender-neutral aesthetic.

From the glimpses we’ve seen so far, Khy’s first drop certainly seems to be living up to “King Kylie’s” fame with lots of dark leather pieces, including pants, tops and a dramatic oversized trench coat. It’s also been revealed that Jenner has already worn some of the collection’s pieces out, such as the strapless zip-up black leather dress she donned to her sister Kim’s birthday party last week.

When is Khy being released?

Khy is set to launch on November 1. Right now, fans can sign up at khy.com for exclusive early access as well as email and text updates from the brand.

Why are Kylie Jenner and Khy already facing backlash?

It’s not unusual for a new Kardashian product to generate some controversy, but there have been several social media users who have publically expressed their disdain for Khy since its announcement.

To begin, some users have passionately shared their feelings that Khy’s product quality won’t live up to its price tag. In doing so, they’re specifically citing the Kylie Swim controversy of 2021, when disappointed shoppers took to social media to call out the brand for its “horrendous” and “cheap” pieces. Jenner never publicly responded to the outrage over Kylie Swim and the brand hasn’t released a new collection since 2022.

“Her swimsuits were a mess, I’m supposed to believe she can make clothes? anyone who keeps buying from this family enjoys getting scammed,” wrote one commenter on a Khy Instagram post.

“How is this ‘accessible’ pricing? Asking for a friend…” complained another user on the collection’s  pricing strategy.

Others have expressed concern over Jenner allegedly stealing designs for Khy’s first launch from a small Paris-based designer, Besty Johnson (not to be confused with the Betsey Johnson).

On October 25, Johnson took to their Instagram story as they shared a series of posts explaining the interesting similarities between their recently launched brand, “Products ltd.,” and Khy’s first collection. Johnson even alleged that she sent Jenner and her team a line sheet approximately six months ago. Jenner has not yet publicly responded to these accusations.

On the other hand, some fans do seem to be genuinely excited about Jenner’s new brand, especially since the reality star has undergone a Sofia Richie Grainge-esque makeover.

“This is fire. I have no idea what it is but, it’s hot,” shared one TikToker.

Despite the backlash, it’s no surprise that the line is still highly anticipated. Jenner has had huge success with her past brands, and it’s looking like Khy will likely follow suit after its Instagram page gained over a hundred thousand followers in a matter of days.

One thing’s for sure; we’ll be keeping an eye out on November 1 for Kylie Jenner’s Khy debut collection and we’ll be watching to see what’s next for the new brand.

For a live Times Square performance on MTV’s TRL back in 2003, Brit chose the lowest-rise pair of pants we think we’ve ever seen.

The brown leather trousers not only showed off her ultra-toned lower torso but also revealed Spears’ purple thong as a cheeky addition to the outfit. Beyond Brit’s killer abs, the look featured a cropped, “ripped” top adorned with blue flowers and a grey fedora with a matching floral accent. Talk about a show-stopping look!
